The Importance of Jazz Education Today

Classroom2

As someone who has had the privilege of studying music on a daily basis, it is hard to fathom a world where music education is not a part of our daily lives. However, for many students today, this is not the case. From the rising costs of living to cuts in arts programs nationwide, more and more frequently, arts education is not an option for many families.

Jazz education has taken some of the biggest financial hits in the last decade as programs are cornered to the few arts magnet schools. Jazz Lives Philadelphia believes jazz education contains invaluable skills that can improve the lives of students who are exposed to it. Jazz education and music education overall promotes teamwork, executive skills and creativity. As a result, students who learn these skills through music education are well equipped to be the most successful versions of themselves in life beyond public school. The Jazz Lives Philadelphia team all has been grateful for the opportunity to have life changing and inspiring musical experiences during our youth that ultimately sparked our passion for performing and educating. We believe it is our duty to serve the Philadelphia community by bringing life changing musical experiences to the next generation of Philadelphias.
